Leimen is the third largest town of the Rhein-Neckar district and it is the area's industrial centre. Heidelberg, which is a popular tourist destination due to its romantic and picturesque cityscape, is only 7 kilometres away from Leimen. 

The closest airport to Leimen is Frankfurt Airport (FRA), which can be reached from several major European hubs.

For participants from central Europe, it is recommended to travel to Heidelberg by train and afterwards to Leimen by the tram. For information about train connections please check German Railways.

About the venue About the venue

The Hotel Villa Toskana is situated in Leimen on the outskirts of Heidelberg, just a few kilometres from the historic city center and in the midst of the Rhein-Neckar region. It offers a mediterranean style and ambience.
In addition, the hotel features 13 conference rooms, a large spa and fitness area, a beauty salon, two restaurants and a bar. There is also an enoteca adjacent.

The Rhein-Neckar Region is one of Germany's driving economic forces and it is known as the largest technology cluster in Europe. For this reason, it is also called the Silicon Valley of Europe.

1. What if I need medical care on site?
Please check with your employing institution to ensure that you have insurance cover for your travel and your stay in Leimen, Germany.

In addition, we strongly recommend that you invest in travel insurance and inform yourself about treatment and reimbursement conditions before travelling to the workshop. If you are a European citizen, you should bring your European Health Insurance Card.

 

2. What is the typical climate in Leimen?
Leimen has an oceanic climate. July is the warmest month – the temperatures often rise beyond 30 °C (86 °F). Even at night, the temperature will most of the time not fall below 15 °C (59 °F).

    The official language in Germany is German. Foreign languages, particularly English, are widely understood and spoken.
