The 4th HBP School offered a comprehensive programme covering all aspects of software, hardware, simulation, databasing, robotics, machine learning and theory relevant to the HBP research programme.

The school programme comprised lectures, hands-on tutorials on software tools and neuromorphic hardware systems, practical exercises and evening lectures, providing a high level view of the project, computing and ethical aspects of artificial neural systems. The school offered ample opportunities for scientific exchange between students and faculty during dedicated discussion sessions, tutorials and various social events.

Application for the 4th HBP School was open to the whole student community and early post-docs. Approx. 40 participants were selected in a competitive application process based on an academic decision by the scientific chair.
Participants were required to submit an abstract on their current research with their application.

Applications from young female investigators were highly encouraged.
