15.12.2016: Advanced course on Neural Data Analysis

In continuation of the former data analysis courses the Juelich Institute is now offering an "Advanced Course on Neural Data Analysis" which takes place for 2 weeks in Barmen, close to Juelich, from March 26 to April 8, 2017. In the first week lectures with exercises will be offered by internationally well known scientists. In the second week the participants will work on their own project, or participate in the competition to distinguish experimental data sets from simulated data sets.

5.10.2016: 1st HBP Curriculum Workshop Series – application open!

We are proud to announce that we are in the final preparation phase of the HBP Curriculum, which started already in the early Ramp-Up Phase. The HBP Curriculum is composed of five online courses. Three courses teach science for non-specialists in the disciplines neuroscience, medicine and ICT, and two more courses teach the complementary subjects of ethics and IPR. The first teaching cycle will start in January 2017. Each of the courses will be completed with a face-to-face workshop, for which the application is already open at https://education.humanbrainproject.eu/web/hbp-education-portal/educationalevents

 

16.09.2016: Lab Course "Advanced Machine Learning in Neurorobotics"

In the upcoming winter semester 2016/2017, the Chair of Robotics and Embedded Systems at Technical University of Munich (TUM) will offer a lab course on "Advanced Machine Learning in Neurorobotics". This course is tightly integrated with the chair's research activities in the neurorobotics subproject of the Human Brain Project.

The course is open for application to all TUM students pursuing a Master's degree in informatics, robotics and related disciplines.

10.5.2016: The FENS Satellite Event: Cells, Circuits and Computation - Expanding the horizons of big data analysis is taking place on 1 July 2016 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In this one-day workshop immediately before FENS 2016, Allen Institute for Brain Science and Human Brain Project scientists will present brand new research discoveries and data analysis tools that have been developed from the mining and analysis of data that is publicly available online. Each presentation will also incorporate hands-on training of novel and emerging data analysis tools in effectively using the publicly available resources from both projects.

The Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture has recently opened the International school of brain cells & circuits dedicated to the Italian Nobel laureate "Camillo Golgi".The school of brain cells & circuits will face hot topics in modern Neuroscience, providing the basics of understanding, fueling discussion and helping to form a critical perspective in the new generation of Neuroscientists. Our vision is that, in order to explain brain functions, it is fundamental to integrate molecular and cellular knowledge into microcircuits and large-scale network. To this aim we are starting the school program by launching the forthcoming course on "Modeling the brain: from neurons to integrated systems".

16.09.2015 Supercomputing for Neuroscientists - How High-Performance Computing can help your neuroscience project
This one-day workshop aims to bridge the gap between Computational Neuroscience and HPC. Experts from the JSC will explain how to get access to Jülich's JUQUEEN and JURECA supercomputers and how the SimLab can support neuroscience groups in using these systems.

10.08.2015 The HBP Neuromorphic Computing Platform allows non-expert neuroscientists and engineers to perform experiments with configurable neuromorphic computing systems. The platform provides two complementary, large-scale neuromorphic systems built in custom hardware at locations in Heidelberg, Germany (the "physical model" or PM system) and Manchester, United Kingdom (the "many core" or MC system).
